Urpo Eino Rainer Pääkkönen was born in 1944 as the eldest child in a family of eight children. Born in Kuhmo (in north-east Finland) and moving to southern Finland a few years later with the family, he inherited his parents' skills and talent of being an entrepreneur. In 1978, after selling house plans and related technical solutions for a few years, Urpo decided to take a risky leap into entrepreneurship and to acquire taxi-companies in the Helsinki area. After a few year's hard work he managed to acquire two Oldsmobile vehicles for the business- a young boy's dream was to become a reality.
Urpo had, however a more developed and a finer vision of the new business in mind. It was his idea to adapt the North American concept of a limousine service operator to the then non-existent Finnish market. Today, this same concept is still evident in the company's operation through business relationships and networking.
Urpo wanted to differentiate his new concept and services from the rest of the industry. All the vehicles (still today) possess a special license plate with the digits 406 - the birthdate of Urpo's late wife. Today, the 406 is a symbol of the company's undisputed commitment to quality.
In 1981, Urpo registered the present name of the company, Limousine Service Ltd., as the name of his growing business. The name in itself is already a statement of high quality services and dedication, but Limousine Service Ltd. is also the only company in Finland to have the right to use the terms "Limousine Service" or "Limousine Services" in its operation or marketing. This results from a ruling by the Finnish Supreme Court.
